T. Clark Shaw - Brooks Shaw & Son Old Country Store

Chief Executive Officer

Clark's Old Country Store story began when he was 10 years old and his parents opened the Old Country Store as an antique museum. Even before that he and his family made wonderful memories collecting antiques in the early 1960's. Clark started out with the company moving antiques when he was a teen-ager then began working in the dish room as the fastest dishwasher around. He literally grew up working at the Old Country Store doing various jobs such as cashier and manager. Today he is our CEO and co-owner of the company.

His visionary leadership and passion for his work are contagious. He was the co-developer of Casey Jones Village and has been an integral leader in the tourism industry at the local, state and national level for over 30 years. He was the project coordinator for the "Train Station" addition to the historic Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum that opened in June of 2009. Through his efforts the Wellwood Country Store where his father Brooks Shaw worked as a young boy in the Wellwood community was saved, relocated and restored to today sit beside the Old Country Store it inspired. In 2010 he and his wife brought the beautiful 1837 Neil House, now called Providence House, from Trenton, Tennessee to the Village and a 105 year old church from Haywood County that are both being restored. in 2011 he spearheaded the opening of Music Highway Crossroads, dedicated to celebrating the music of the Tennessee Delta with a listening room for live musical performances and a music themed shop. Casey Jones Village is proud to welcome over 700,000 guest annually. Plans call for Providence House and the Village Chapel to be open to the public for special events by the Summer of 2012.

He and his wife, Juanita, have two wonderful children, Elizabeth and Brooks. Elizabeth and Brooks are college students at Union University and the University of Mississippi.

Clark's professional and civic involvement have included the Board of Directors of the National Restaurant Association where he holds the position of Board of Directors, Emeritus. He served as on the Board of Directors and past State President of the Tennessee Restaurant Association for over twenty years and on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Tourism Roundtable.

He has been named Tennessee Restaurateur of the Year, Outstanding Man of the Year in Jackson, Tennessee, Outstanding Young Tennessean and named to the Tennessee Restaurant "Hall of Fame" by the Tennessee Restaurant Association. He was also honored to receive the "Knight of the Roundtable" award by the Tennessee Tourism Roundtable. He is the 2011 "Leadership" category recipient of the prestigious Jackson Awards given by the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation. Clark has done community work with such organizations as the Ministry to Men Foundation, the March of Dimes, Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, Youth Town of Tennessee, Jackson Rotary Club, the Tourism Association of Southwest Tennessee, Boy Scouts of Tennessee and the Jackson Area Red Cross and numerous others. His hobbies include travel and history. He is in leadership at his church Grace Bible Fellowship.

Anne Shaw - Founder with the late Brooks C. Shaw Chairman of the Board Emeritus

Often referred to as the "heart of our company" she is indeed an integral part of the heart and soul of the Old Country Store. She was married to Brooks Shaw and together they founded the Old Country Store in April of 1965. Theirs was a true love story and they stand as a role model to this day of an ideal couple very much in love. Their two children are Clark Shaw and Deborah Shaw Laman. Miss Anne has four grandchildren - Jonathan, Jennifer, Elizabeth and Brooks.

Sadly, Mr. Shaw passed away of a heart attack in March of 1971 but Miss Anne kept the family business and was thrust into being a businesswoman and single parent in one tragic day. She often credits Norwood and Joyce Jones for much of the success of the Old Country Store with their hard work the 37 years they worked at the Store.

The Shaw children grew up in the business and Miss Anne is very proud of the roles they play in the company with son, Clark Shaw, as the Old Country Store Chief Executive Officer and daughter, Deborah, as Vice President and Marketing Director. Clark has worked at the Old Country Store his entire career and he and his wife Juanita run the Store day to day making it their life's work and joy. Miss Anne has always been active in her church and community and has faithfully served her church, Forest Heights United Methodist Church, in many many capacities with grace and devotion all her life. She is noted for her warm and caring sprit and always has a hug ready to greet her many adoring family and friends. You will never meet a kinder, sweeter lady. Aptly, in 2011 Miss Anne was nominated by Reggie Smith for "The Angel Award" that is given on the "Morning Praise" radio show on Grace Broadcasting by veteran announcer Tom Mapes. In our opinion, no one this side of Heaven is more deserving.

Juanita is often the face of the Old Country Store on television with a true gift for cooking and a passion for all things Southern. She represents us on local and regional TV shows with her interesting and fun cooking segments. Juanita is the gift buyer and decorator for our charming Gift Shoppe and with her love of cooking is actively involved in our kitchen as well as many aspects of the business.

Married to CEO Clark Shaw since 1985, they have two wonderful children, Elizabeth and Brooks. It's all in the family with the Shaws who dearly love their work and work tirelessly in striving to keep the Old Country Store as excellent as can be.

Deborah Shaw Laman - Vice President/Marketing Director

Deborah is the daughter of Old Country Store founders Brooks and Anne Shaw and the favorite and only sister of CEO Clark Shaw. She is married to college sweetheart, Jon, and is the proud mother of their two talented children, Jonathan Brooks and Jennifer Anne. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin where she majored in Communications and minored in English.

Deborah is an owner/partner in Brooks Shaw & Son's Old Country Store. She serves as the company Vice President and handles marketing and public relations as the Marketing Director for the Old Country Store, Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum, Music Highway Crossroads, Providence House, the Village Chapel and Casey Jones Village as a whole.

Deborah is the social media administrator and manager of the company blog and website. She produces the company e-newsletters, hosts travel writers, handles media relations, advertising, copywriting, photography and special events. She served on the planning committee for the "Train Station" addition to the Casey Jones Museum. Active in the Tennessee tourism community, she serves on the Executive Board of the Tourism Association of Southwest Tennessee, the Board of the Tennessee Hospitality Association and served as the immediate past secretary on the Board of the Tennessee Association of Museums. She is on the Awards Committee of the Tennessee Association of Museums that annually honors achievements in members museums across the State. She is the Vice President of the West Tennessee Hospitality Association made up of hospitality professionals in our area. She also serves on the Steering Committee of the newly formed WestTAM, an organization made up of West Tennessee museums. Deborah writes a travel column for the cityNews, a local monthly publication, and is a contributing photographer. She volunteers for several charity organizations donating her time as a PR consultant. She is a member of the James Beard Foundation, the Southern Foodways Alliance and the West Tennessee Historical Society. See all of our company affiliations below.

Norwood Jones - President Emeritus

Norwood and wife, Joyce, native Jacksonions, are the original storekeepers of the Old Country Store. They grew up here, attended public schools and Lambuth University and Norwood graduated from Memphis State University. After they married they lived in Memphis for 13 years and moved back to Jackson in 1965 to operate Brooks Shaw & Son Old Country Store . The Jones’ have two children, Randy and Leigh Ann, and four grandsons.

The store was originally perceived as a turn of the century general store and museum by Brooks Shaw and Reggie Smith, original investors, using one of the finest collections of items used or sold in the general stores of the turn of the century collected by Brooks Shaw in the previous four or five years as a hobby. It has grown over the years to one of Tennessee ’s Top 10 Travel Attraction with it’s development of Casey Jones Village .

Norwood served the company as it’s President for 37 years along with his wife in business development until he and his wife retired from active duty in 2002. He owns his stock in the company and maintains his office at the Store. He still enjoys the business and he is very much interested in it’s continued success. He is active in his real estate business, Land Office Realtors, with six associates.

Over the years Norwood has served his community as Chairman of the Tourism Association of Southwest Tennessee, Board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Board of the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, Development Committee of the University of Tennessee at Martin, Advisory Board of the National Federation of Independent Business (Tennessee), Chairman of Trustees of his church, Lifetime member of Optimist International and Jackson Optimist Club, National Association of Realtors , TAR and local CWTAR . Norwood still enjoys tennis, fishing, golf, collecting and traveling with family and friends

Norwood believes service is the key to success in any venture in life and that success depends on how well we serve our neighbor, our community and God. Norwood says, “Success is not a destination it is the Journey. Thanks be to God."

Lawrence Taylor - Director of the Historic Casey Jones Home

Norma Taylor - Casey Jones Museum Historian - Lawrence and Norma both grew up in Jackson and graduated from Jackson High School and Lambuth University. Lawrence was a sales representative for H.T. Ardinger for 20 years. He has been with the Old Country Store organization since it moved to Casey Jones Village 34 years ago in 1978.

He is a co-owner partner and stockholder in the Old Country Store. Lawrence has been active in the tourism industry and served a term as president of the Tennessee Hotel-Motel Association. Norma is a former school teacher and in 2011 authored and published a book on the life of Casey Jones entitled "Casey Jones - The Legend Lives On".

Lawrence and Norma make a great team at the Casey Jones Museum. They both served on the planning committee for the "Train Station" expansion of the Casey Jones Museum that opened in 2009. Their son, Mark, and daughter-in-law, Jill, have two darling children - Jude and Eliza Beth and, needless to say, they love being grandparents.
